2cupspeeled and diced apples (such as Granny Smith)
1/2teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Gently fold in the diced apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, then sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon and sugar if desired.
Add the remaining batter on top, smoothing the surface. Optionally, sprinkle more cinnamon and sugar on the top layer.
Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Slice the bread and serve warm with a drizzle of icing made from powdered sugar and a splash of milk for a sweet finish. Place on a rustic wooden board for a homely touch.
